1. Manufacturing of photosensitive materials (photographic industry) photosensitive emulsion raw materials: In traditional film and paper production, potassium iodide reacts with silver nitrate to produce silver iodide. Silver iodide is extremely sensitive to light and is an essential core photosensitive material for manufacturing high-sensitivity X-ray film, color film, and aerial photography film.

Organic synthesis and chemical catalytic iodination reagents: In fine chemical and pharmaceutical synthesis, potassium iodide is commonly used to provide iodine atoms and synthesize various organic iodides through nucleophilic substitution reactions.
